Google has made so many changes over the past several years, it can be hard to keep up if you aren’t constantly logging into your account. What’s important is that Google is still the #1 search engine in the world, and still crucial for businesses and organizations to maintain a presence for site traffic and local SEO.
The latest big change to Google My Business for local search is that it is now called Google Business Profile. The dashboard is still active with your business links, however, the links lead directly to Google Search where your account is managed. There will no longer be any confusion between Google Local pages and Google Plus pages, and which type of page to create.
Google Plus no longer exists as of April 2, 2019, for individual users.
If you would like to maintain a presence on Google (who wouldn’t?), then you can log in to Google My Business and manage either a single business listing or multiple listings/locations.
Google My Business is the interface for maintaining listings that appear in Google Maps and Search. You can get your business listing verified, edit details, manage photos, access Insights, respond to reviews for your listing and more. Posts can also be upload with content, video and images, similar to a social media platform. However, users can’t comment or share posts.
Check your Google Maps listing here and find out if you need to edit it in the Google My Business dashboard. You of course need a Google Account to access your information (but a Gmail account is not required)!
