Cooking in the Kitchen with WordPress – Tasty Web Design

June 4, 2012 by Tina Reed Johnson

@Tina Reed Johnson we love food and cooking up tasty Web sites!  Let’s take a look at recipes and an Internet marketing tool for creating your site.  Let’s see..one onion, four cups potatoes.. Oh wait, sorry, have to get my mind off food and back to WordPress!  🙂

WordPress is a very popular tool for Web site creation for many blogs and businesses today.  The reason it is so popular is largely because of the founder’s intent on simplicity, and nature of the open source foundation it’s built upon.

The easy Web site admin and simple interface has made the platform extremely popular with business owners and blog writers to get their names out on the Internet.   Writing or publishing Web content is easier for the average writer when working with WordPress. The Web page or post has a very familiar look that most folks see when writing an email or word processing document.

Open source is another reason WordPress is popular in the Web blog or Web site space.  Open source software gives developers all over the world the chance to contribute their know-how to make great software.

What, you’ve never heard of open source?  That’s free software.  WordPress continues a long line of free software programs that empower business and blogging.  In fact, there are two versions out there–hosted and self-hosted (WordPress.com and WordPress.org respectively).  You can get a free blog and host it on WordPress.com, however, you do not have the freedom or control as you would if you hosted a WordPress.org blog.

WordPress.org is “self-installed” or “self-hosted.”  With this setup comes a dollop of Web site management with your Web hosting company.  With the .org version, the sky is the limit in terms of configuration and endless amounts of creativity with the look of your site.  Also, it’s more portable if you want to move your site to a different Web host.  With all that freedom and creativity, though, comes the care and feeding of your site (namely security, backups, hosting, troubleshooting, etc.).

If you are concerned about your appearance on the Web, you need control over your Web site.  This is where many small businesses need help. The folks here at Tina Reed Johnson can help you create some good Web site business eats and get you cooking with WordPress. Not too well done, but just right.

I liked this blog, thought it was well written and easy to understand. It had helpful information and showed the differences about the WordPress version.

Thank you, Tina. Great work as always! Love the wording and images on your ads, and it’s wonderful to see the click-throughs to the Mental Health page you wrote and lecture page on our website. Kathy Burris, Los Angeles, CA February 2021
I think the ads are effective. And doubling the amount spent can only help. I was unsure how many we would have come, so I was a bit careful about the advertising for our talk. We had about 20-25 show up. I understand we got some people from the FB ads. I do think the FB ads are a plus. Lecture Chairman, So Cal church December 2022
Thank you so much for the report on our Facebook ad and for the work you did to publicize our lecture.  We had 155 people join our online lecture.  We very much appreciate your support.  The number of users reached is great.  We have made so much progress since we started running ads a few years ago. Linda GerltFirst Church of Laguna Beach
Our website ChristianScienceLosAngeles had the highest activity ever and we’ve had 398 views of the webinar as of today on YouTube. It looks like Tuesday was an all time high for pages accessed on our website coinciding with your facebook ad release. Then the day of the webinar we had another new high for visits and pages accessed. We are pleased that your targeted facebook ads seemed to reach individuals that were interested in exploring our website. Thanks for your good work!!! Sylvia Crew-Rynski, Thousand Oaks Church Lecture Committee Chair June 2019 Facebook Live, Thousand Oaks
The lecture was an unqualified success. We had overflow in our lobby. We had quite a few that were new and we had many, many positive comments. Thank you for advertising our talk on Facebook! Thank you Tina, and good to know these results from our Facebook advertising.  We’re working on educating our membership about the value of social media and appreciate this data to confirm.  We definitely had a number of visitors and heard very good feedback about our speaker at our talk. -Madelon Maupin, Bibleroads.com, Newport Beach, CA November 2018 Facebook Advertising, Nonprofit Testimonial, Newport Beach
The Facebook advertising worked!  It was our largest crowd w/a significant number of new comers.  The LARGE auditorium was almost full!  The lecture was so well received that the Q & A didn’t finish until 4 pm.  -Caraway Longville & First Church, San Diego, CA June 2017 Facebook Advertising, Nonprofit Testimonial, San Diego
